Scouts Home Page

Hi there, do you want to know all about being a Scout, it's great fun and you get to make lots of new friends ?

Both boys and girls aged between 10½ and 14 years can join the Scouts, although not all Scout Troops in Oldham currently accept girls.
Check here to find which Groups have a Scout Troop and whether they accept girls or not.

Scouts like to get outside to do lots of exciting things such as camping, climbing, abseiling, and canoeing, but if the weather is too bad to do these things then we practice map reading, compass work, first aid and many more skills inside our group headquarters.

There are also lots of badges a Scout can wear including a Membership Award, 8 Challenge Badges, the Chief Scouts Gold Award, a Joining In Badge and choose your favorites from 70 Activity Badges.

In addition any member of the Scout Group can gain one of the staged badges or Group Awards. These cover Swimming, IT, Musician, Nights Away, Environment, Faith, and International Friendship.

Copies of all the Badges and Awards that a Scout can earn are shown on our Scout Badges page.

You can find out what you have to do to earn these badges by looking on Scoutbase.

If this is what you would like to do, then read about some of the activities Oldham Scouts did in:
