Scout Network Badges & Awards

This is the Membership Badge and is awarded when a person becomes a member of the Scout Movement.

This Badge is worn on the left chest.

The three main awards in the Scout Network Section are;

• The Chief Scouts Platinum Award (shown on the left)
• The Chief Scouts Diamond Award
• The Queens Scout Award

The Queens Scout Award is the highest award in Scouting.

Each award is made up of a number of elements. The challenges for each award relate directly to the corresponding Duke of Edinburgh's Award, therefore the Explorer Scouts has the option of completing the sections of a Duke of Edinburgh's Award or the Scout Challenges which are similar

The highest Chief Scouts Challenge badge awarded or the Queens Scout Badge is worn on the right chest immediately above the Challenge Badges

Although there are a no Activity Badges available to members of the Scout Network they can however use the activities completed in gaining their Chief Scouts Platinum or Diamond Award towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award.

They are also encouraged to achieve awards from national governing bodies to recognise achievement in a particular activity.

If an Explorer Scout gains a Duke of Edinburgh Award this is worn on the left sleeve below any Activity Badges

To enable Sections to work together there are three Group Awards. These give members of the Scout Network the chance to work with their local Explorer Unitss and Scout Groups to achieve a long term project over three to six months. The three Group Awards are:

• The Environment Award (shown on the left)
• The International Friendship award
• The Faith Award

These badges are worn on the right sleeve below any Patrol or Assistant Patrol Leader stripes.

A member of the Scout Network does not get a Badge in recognition of their participation in a programme of activities but instead completes a Certificate of Achievement on which they can enter details of what they have accomplished during the year and list their aim for the coming 12 months.
