Cub Activities in 2006

District 5 a side Football Competition

On a day when the snow fell continuously from around 7.00am, blocking side roads and making travel very difficult, the Cub Scouts held their annual 5 a side football competition.

As a result of the bad weather only 7 teams, out of the 19 entered, actually took part.

Instead of the usual competition whereby teams play in two leagues and the top two go through to play a semi-final and final it was decided to have just one league and simply award the trophy to the winning team.  This meant that those teams that had braved the bad weather at least got to play 6 other teams before a winner and runner up were decided.

Congratulations therefore to everyone who did turn up and especially to Knowles Lane who were the winners, and Denshaw Dynamo's who came second

District Cub Camping

Over sixty Cub Scouts along with 22 Scouts from 6 groups took part in the District Cub Camp that was held at Waddecar camp site near Garstang.

Everyone had a brilliant weekend although some of the on site activities were unfortunately not available and alternative activities had to be arranged.

Although not part of the "District Camp" a further 50 Cub Scouts from another 6 groups have also been camping in recent weeks at various locations including Tatton Park, Tawd Vale and Linnet Clough.
