Cub Activities in 2004

District Cub Camp

Almost 100 people took part in this year's District Cub Camp. The theme was "Cowboys and Indians" and gave the Cubs plenty of opportunities to get into a wild west atmosphere.

During the camp they went panning for gold, completed a number of craft activities including making their own Indian headdress and sat round a camp fire to sing a medley of songs.

The on site activities of archery and rifle shooting took on an entirely new aspect but at the end of the day no-one had been shot or injured.

5 a side Football Competition

Although the number of teams entered in this years competition was down on previous years the Cubs still had a enjoyable afternoon and played some good football.

In the first semi final Lydgate A team beat their own B team 3 - 0, whilst in the second semi final Saddleworth Bulldogs beat Knolls Lane 1 - 0.

This created an exciting final between Lydgate and Bulldogs.

Lydgate scored an early goal but this did not stop the Cubs from Bulldogs trying every trick they knew to try and get an equaliser, however with just seconds left Lydgate Cubs scored a second goal to make the final score Lydgate 2 - Saddleworth Bulldogs 0

Well done to the Cubs from St. Anne's Lydgate and better luck next year to all the other teams.
