Activity Badge Workshop.

Cubs Activity BadgeIn February 98, over 75 Cubs attended an Activity Badge Workshop at which they were able to gain either the Computer Badge, Map Reader Badge, Scientist Badge or Communicator Badge.  The event was held at Counthill School which had provided 40 computers so that the Cubs could get "hands on" experience and complete all the requirements for their badge.

The picture shows some of the Cubs working on their Map Reader Badge.

5 a side Football.

In March, a 5 a side football competition was held at Breezehill School Sports Hall. Almost all the Groups in Oldham entered a team, and after many exciting matches in the preliminary rounds the final was between 128th Oldham, Hey, St John's and 130th Oldham, Scouthead.

At the end of full time the score was still even with neither team having scored.

Extra time was then played in which Hey St John's were able to score the all important goal.  Well done to the 128th.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt.

On 4 April 98 the Cubs took part in a Great Easter Egg Hunt.  This involved following a number of cryptic clues to find the hidden "eggs" (actually table tennis balls).

After spending all afternoon searching for the "eggs", in pouring rain, they returned to the 3rd Oldham, Delph Methodist headquarters to check who had found the most "eggs".

Whilst the counting took place the Cubs enjoyed hots dogs, burgers, pop and crisps before being rewarded with real Easter Eggs.

Pack Holiday to Italy

In August 98, 31 Cubs and 16 Leaders went for a 10 day adventure holiday to Villeneuve in Northern Italy. This was the third time the Cubs have been on a holiday abroad, the previous visits both being to the Ardeche Region of France.

During the holiday the Cubs took part in a range of activities including Climbing, Abseiling, Gorge Walking, Archery, Canoeing, Kayaking, Hill Walking & Orienteering.  Evening activities included a Blind Trail, Acorn Olympics, a drop the egg challenge, and a Camp Fire.

The holiday also included a trip by Cable Car to the top of Mont Blanc and a visit to a local swimming pool.  Whilst at the top of Mont Blanc the Cubs entertained everyone with their version of the "Funky Chicken".
