Carol Service
A number of Beavers and their parents met at Denshaw Village Hall then walked in a Candle Light
(actually glow sticks) procession to the village church for their annual Carol
Service.
Apart from singing some of their favourite Christmas Carols, Santa along
with some of his helpers dropped in to collect the presents which the Beavers
had bought for those children who were going to be spending Christmas in
hospital.
His helpers led the rest of the Beavers, their leaders and parents in
another Christmas favourite, "Santa Claus is coming to town".
After the service everyone was given a mince pie and a drink and wished
each other a very happy Christmas.
Christmas Party
Over 70 Beavers took part in the Christmas Party held at Littlemoor school.
During the afternoon the Beavers visited several bases and made a small
Santa with wobbly eyes, Reindeer biscuits, a box to hold a Christmas present,
a Christmas Tree mobile , sun catchers to hang in a window and a Christmas
decoration using Hama Beads before finally having their face painted.
In addition they played a number of party games and sang some camp fire and
Christmas songs.
Then to finish the afternoon they had a surprise visit from Santa who had
heard their singing and came along to see what else they were doing.
Best of all he had a small present for everyone including the biggest Beaver
of all.
Beaver Animal Conservation Day
Over 50 Beavers had a fabulous day in glorious weather at
Higher Oxhey Farm, Denshaw in July when they spent the day looking at the
animals, making a miniature seed garden, taking part in a wild life safari
drive and playing in an adventure play area.
During a tour of the farm the Beavers were able to see and
touch some ponies, horses, hens, ducks, geese and owls.
The saw some chicks which were just two weeks old, but had
to stay away from the owl which had just had a baby just three days before
our visit in order not to frighten mother and baby.
They were also taken by land rover on a wild life safari
ride where they saw many wild animals including lions, tigers, giraffes,
elephants etc (all of the cuddly toy variety) but looking very realistic as
they were partially hidden behind bushes along the route.
Many thanks must go to Helen (the CSL at 79th) who owns the
farm for putting on a suburb day for all the Beavers.
